Notaí CLG Tulach an Iarainn sponsored by McGrath's chemist

Junior Football Quarter Final Tallow 1-11 Geraldines 2-10.
In sweltering twenty degree heat we engaged in knockout football on Saturday afternoon last. The Indian summer had arrived and we got off to a good start with good interplay between Darragh Mulcahy and Jordan Henley set up the meandering Jake Beecher who curled over a delightful first point with less than a minute gone. The next few scores over the following five minutes were all frees and we accounted for one of these from Ryan Grey. It was noticeable however on that physicality of this game was up a notch or two from our previous encounter and there was no easy ball here. The pressure that we had on our kickers meant we had an increasing wides tally and it wasn't until the 17th minute that we troubled the scoreboard after a lung bursting run from Jordan, he offloaded to Ryan who scored a nice point. Ryan converted another free seven minutes later and we trailed by the minimum after 24 minutes 0-4 to 0-5. Great work again by Jordan set up Darragh Mulcahy for a goal chance that we spurned. A minute to go in the half and Ryan curled over a lovely free on the left hand side of goal about thirt five meters out but disaster struck as Geraldines scored a goal just on the conclusion of the half and we trailed at half time by four points, Tallow 0-5 Geraldines 1-6.
Two alterations were made in the second half with Dean coming in  corner back and Tommy coming in corner forward. Robbie Geary positioned himself manning the square and gave a powerful second half performance. Ryan adding to his tally with a good hard worked point. He beat two men before kicking over from his right in a central position, He had another goal opportunity on the 37th minute but Jake's effort was saved. There was heated exchanges and it threatened to spill over at times. Bob McCarthy turned into a human battering ram and was hitting off fellas that moved or threatened to move. Jordan ran himself into the ground, he got some hard hits (fair I might add) and did one somersault that a Russian gymnast would be proud of over the railing.

Kieran Geary had a free on the thirteen. With some quarters shouting "to put it over", his scuffled shot billowed the net. Geraldines levelled the game again and then took the lead before Ryan deadlocked the teams again after he picked up a rebound off a Donnchadh blocked down ball. Kieran levelled the match again for the third time in the second half with a good point from play. A minute later as an uncontested kick out resulted in the ball working up the field and the Geraldines scored a goal. Ryan put over a long range free off the ground with a minute to go but we couldn't get a goal to save us. I was critical of our first round performance but the team had showed a lot more heart and football ability in the later stages of the competition. We thank Sean, Tom Bear and Dinny for managing the team and for Diarmuid on first aid.

Tallow GAA would like to pass on our condolences to Kay, Eimear, Brian and Aileen Twomey on the passing of Seán Ó Tuama. Seán was Vice President of the Club, Irish Cultural Officer and Déise Draw promoter. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.
Déise Draw: The last Déise draw is  on at the end of the month. Could all money be handed into to one's promoters as soon as possible.
Five in a Row: The Dublin juggernaut keeps rolling and they completed the first men's senior five in row in the history of the association. There is no doubting their class and athleticism and it doesn't look like it's slowing very soon.  Four under 21's in this decade, forward of the year in U20 football Cian Archer not even on the panel until next year, a manager you took the ego out of Dublin, the financial clout that leaves everyone in their wake, playing nearly all their games in Croke Park, need I go on?
Croke Park Treatment: The red carpet treatment was out in Croke Park on Sunday last for a Tallow man. How lucky was William Murphy that Siobhán was on the Jubilee panel for Waterford!
Tallow GAA Lotto supported by Kearney's Restaurant.
16/09/2019 Jackpot: €7,600 No winner. Numbers were 9,22,26,27.
Consolation Prizes: Tom Doyle, Colette O'Flynn, Amy Cronin, Mary Kate Tobin.
Promoter: Fiona Crowley.
Next Draw: 23/09/2019 at 9 p.m. at Lukies. The Jackpot will be €7,800.

Summer Camps a great success

Successful Summer Camps at Tallow Enterprise Centre

Summer 2019 is almost at a close with the children returning to school in a few short weeks.  The Summer has been very busy at Tallow Training & Enterprise Centre.  Our summer camps have been hugely successful this year with large attendances at all camps.  We had two very successful weeks of Cookery with the children going home each day with wonderful baking and savoury dishes.  Drama Camp with Marie, was also very well attended with children having great fun, role playing and trying out their acting skills.  This week saw the end our Computer Camp, again with the children learning new skills and getting comfortable with using the computer.  We also had a very successful Movie morning with another one on Thursday 22nd our final one of the Summer.  So all in all a busy summer.  Keep an eye on our facebook page for updates of autumn Kids classes and Movies.
