Successful Art Exhibition and Book Launch

Some Of The Paintings Exhibited During The Art Exhibition
A whole year has passed since the first Book Launch (Budding Bookers) and Art Exhibition and in that time incredible progress has been made.  On Wednesday last we celebrated that progress with our second publication 'Pen Point' and Art Exhibition at Tallow Enterprise Centre.  We were delighted with the large crowd that joined us on what was a thoroughly enjoyable night and would like to thank them for supporting us.

Margaret Organ, Arts Officer with Waterford County Council opened the 'show' for us.  Her speech was inspiring and pointed out that while we could see and enjoy the beautiful pictures displayed on the walls we would be equally impressed with the stories in the book.  Our thanks to Margaret for taking time to both read the stories and be there.

'Pen Point' is a book of short stories and is the combined work of mostly local people who gather at Tallow Enterprise Centre every Tuesday night in the Autumn and Spring.  Interestingly their ages range from 16 years to 75 years and each year we see new people being welcomed into the group.  Clodagh Dunne was the tutor for this class and she ably followed in the footsteps of our own Mary McCarthy while introducing her own key elements in writing technique and poetry.  Thanks to Clodagh for her skilful help with the writing group.

The Art group meet each Monday morning at Tallow Enterprise Centre during Spring and Autumn and are very fortunate in having Barbara Barrett as their tutor.  Based in Kinsale, Barbara is from South Africa and holds workshops around the world as well as in Ireland.  We found her in Ballynoe!  Barbara is passionate about her painting and is very happy to share her skills.  Barbara introduced the group to watercolours and for many this was their first time using them.  The high standard of work and talent displayed at the exhibition is testament to Barbara's expertise and teaching skills and we look forward to  welcoming Barbara back in the Autumn.

To all who wrote and painted congratulations on your great achievements.

Thanks to The Arts Office of Waterford County Council and Waterford Leader Partnership for their financial assistance in allowing all this creativity to reach fruition.

Thank you too to Eamonn Tighe, who has recently opened up a framing business in Tallow for doing such a great job of mounting the paintings.  The Paintings, some for sale, will be on display to the public for this week and next.

'Pen Point', great holiday and bedtime reading and an ideal gift, can be purchased for €7 from Tallow Credit Union, Tallow Enterprise Centre and other local outlets.  It was printed by Liam Barry of Fermoy Design and Print.
